Ballin AI was founded in 2023 to change how talent is evaluated, selected, and developed in basketball — at scale, and with real basketball intelligence behind it.

Our philosophy and evaluation frameworks didn't start as software. They were built and proven at the highest levels of the game — in WNBA draft rooms, USA Basketball selection processes, elite grassroots circuits, and McDonald's All American selections. That track record is what confirmed the need for a better way to evaluate talent: the game has simply outgrown what humans can track by hand.

Consider this: there are over 650 million basketball players around the world. Getting a true read on talent at that scale takes more than technology. It takes people who know the game inside and out. That's what sets our team apart. Ballin AI is built on more than 10 years of player tracking data across grassroots, college, and professional basketball — and it's built by the very people who have lived, breathed, and played the game for 70+ years collectively.

Today, we apply AI to that foundation to build predictive models focused on two things: helping athletes develop, and helping coaches select.

Why we started

Our founder, Nyla Pollard, saw a gap that was hiding in plain sight: not enough data and intelligence was being applied to recruiting and player selection, despite how important it was. Coaches carry enormously high stakes with every player they bring in — program performance, team culture, scholarships, funding, reputation. They deserve better information before making those calls, not after.
